Sometimes during the gum disease process, the bacteria will actually grow along the root side of the tooth. And when that happens, the body doesn’t like that. So, the body’s actually going to retreat, which allows the bacteria to go a little bit deeper, and the bone will retreat. And it’s just this constant downward spiral. And so, once we get in there, and remove the bacteria, we’re able to use bone grafts to hopefully rebuild that bone that was lost. And that way we could save the tooth and hopefully don’t have to lose it.
Become a Candidate for Implants With Bone Grafting
When you need a bone grafting procedure, you want to know it’s done by someone who is an expert at this type of treatment. You can trust your dentist at High Plains Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Dr. Everett is trained and certified in the S.M.A.R.T. bone grafting technique. This is a minimally invasive way to regenerate the bone in your jaw.
This technique offers many benefits when compared to other approaches:
- Faster healing time, since only one incision is used to place the bone material in your mouth
- Less discomfort after the procedure
- Fewer complications and better results so your implant procedure can go smoothly
We use a substance called PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) to speed your recovery following the procedure. Created with a small sample of your own blood, it supercharges your body’s natural healing process.
To relieve any anxiety you have about the procedure we’ll offer you several sedation options. You can also enjoy some of the comforts of home, like a pillow or blanket. Our private operatories will also give you a sense of calm and quiet during your appointment.
